06:46 pm - EW Mods -- Post Thirteen -- On the subject of Persistence
There are a great many times in this world where persistence pays off. Uploading a picture that doesn't belong in Elfwood is not one of those times.

Moderators have at their disposal a record of what's been rejected on previous tickets, and why they've been rejected. They also have the ability to set the ticket so that previous moderators can take a look at a ticket. In other words, we're not stupid, you aren't likely to slip something by us simply because you upload the image again and again and just change the description or the file name. So please, if you've been asked not to upload a file again, either leave it on your hard drive, or change the image so that it fits within the Elfwood guidelines.

Give us a break, or we might just have to send George, the Mutant Rat over to have a talk with you.

I'm a little confused about this. You say that you've got records of what's been rejected (and I don't doubt you on that), but I've heard it said several times that when you're questioning a rejection you should include a copy of the picture in question, or a link to somewhere it can be seen. So what are your records?

Yes, the Extranet keeps track of all accepted and rejected files, the pre-made reasons why a file was rejected (like "does not fit this area"), and it keeps record of any moderator message included when the ticket is processed (which hopefully clarifies why a rejected pic "does not fit" ^_^;)

However, it's only a text-based record. The actual JPG or GIF file is removed when it's rejected from your ticket, so there's no way for a Support member to see the file if you have questions about why it wasn't accepted. And that's why we always ask that you submit the file again when you want to ask us anything :)

sorry but i've been dying to ask...

hey, i know this is really off the subject, but I've been wondering for awhile how artists get chosen or become moderators? i thought i read something about it in the FAQ or someplace once, but now I can't find it again. just curious.

Re: sorry but i've been dying to ask...

I've added it to the userinfo for this journal :)
Basically you use the contact form for Elfwood, and indicate which area you are interested in modding.
There are different 'entrance exams' for each area.

I do understand the rules and would never urge any one to flood the mods with pictures that have been refused, so why do I get this message when I try to update my gallery?-----------------This was written in a persons comments... ""You've been rejected? How many times? I mean, you can always try a lot of times since there's nice mods and mean mods. I have been rejected about ten times already... three of them being just one story that's still currently being rejected. Oh well. Just keep bombarding them..." At the moment the mods are swamped with tickets. And then we find comments like the above. Who thinks that if you keep "bombarding" us with tickets that have already been rejected it will help the list move faster? If you have been rejected it will say WHY it has been rejected in the email you get from the moderators. If you disagree with that reason please reply to that email and ask for a second opinion. If you keep "bombarding" us with pictures or stories that have already been rejected all that you do is slow up the ticket queue for other people who AREN'T breaking Elfwood rules. Eventually this causes us to have to shut down your ability to upload new work---------------------------
It seems to be very personal and aimed at me, even after I've reread it several times? I havent seen any post of it any where as there would be if it was an over all ban, so mods please explain it to me?

I was very upset and I still am upset! :(

Although the ban on uploading has passed, I'd thought you'd like to know why. And I'm not a mod, but I know what happened. ;)

The comment left was left in my friend's Wyvern's Library main page comment list, and was probably seen by a moderator. The comment has now been removed, and the person involved has apologised.

It's not aimed at anyone except those who feel that bombarding the mods is a good thing to do. You can see that if you were a mod, you wouldn't appreciate that said! So this ban was just saying, "All of you who think bombarding us is a good idea, well you're wrong. Now for your foolishness, everyone has no uploading for a while." S'only fair.

Don't worry, you don't need to take it personally, just think before you upload!
